Back Into Training

In last week’s post “Why Edmonton Needs You Can Ride 2”, I talked about how 2019 might be the last year for the adaptive bike program. Two of You Can Ride 2’s fundraisers are physically challenging, (at least for me); but I have decided to sign up for them next year anyway! The first fundraiser I am signing up for will be the St. Albert Road Race, then in September, I will be doing the Ride for Refuge. However, I haven’t trained for anything in over five years!

If you’re a long-time reader, you might remember when fitness dominated my blog. It was hard to get back into training after having A-man. Lilly had previously been hospitalized and I had sustained some injuries too. Before her hospitalization, I was too afraid to sign up for things in case we got the surgery date.

I now feel that I am ready to start training again. The e-mail from You Can Ride 2 gave me the motivation to start my training. It’s time to put the excuses a side and get down to business!

I am still trying to come up with my game plan to get back into training. My {fitness} tool box is full of amazing resources to help with training. For now, I just need to decide what to do. It’s been a while, so I am going to look into the latest theories around fitness to brush up on my knowledge. I will definitely be posting about my journey here, on Facebook, and on Instagram. Please check back to find out how I will accomplish my goal!

Are you taking up training for the first time, or the first time in a while? If so, I challenge you to participate in some road races next summer!
