Stretching While Serving (Pulling The Thread)

Last week I stood in front of a group of ladies for the first time leading a bible study. While I prepped and than lead the study I never made the connection that I basically was doing what session two of Pulling The Thread is about.

It wasn’t until I sat down to write this post that I realized how much stretching in God it has taken to get me up to this point in my life.

I had a lot of fears about leading. What if I didn’t do a good job? What if no body understands what I am saying? And these were just some of them!

Ends up leading a bible study is not as scary as my mind made it out to be. Yes, like anything else there are things I can improve on but I am so glad that I got outside my comfort zone and did this!

This weeks Verse to SOAK and Memorize is one of my favourites.

Pslam 13914

This verse really changed how I look at myself. It made me stop and wonder am I really using my gifts to their full potential?  I really started reminding myself that God’s works are wonderful and so am I.

When ever fear, anxiety, or doubt enter my mind I push them aside and say this verse instead.

It’s actually one of the reasons why I have gotten over some of the fears that have held me back from using my gifts to my full potential.

As for Prayer Sisters we are in week two of Prayer Sister Prompts.

Prayer Sister

Day 1

Heavenly Father, thank you for ________________________. Thank you for creating her in Your perfect image. Lord I pray that she knows that she was perfectly made in her mother‟s womb. (Psalm 139:14)

Day 2

Heavenly Father, as ______________________ does today‟s journal questions I pray that she will acknowledge You in all her ways, and that You will make her paths straight. (Proverbs 3:6)

Day 3

Heavenly Father, I pray _____________________________ is clothed in Your strength and dignity, that, as she goes about her days, she can laugh in the days to come. (Proverbs 31:25)

Day 4

Lord Father, I pray that ___________________________ will be protected from wolves in sheep clothing that she comes across in her day-to-day life. I pray that she will feel Your protection around her as she goes about her day. (Matthew 10:16)

Day 5

Father Counsellor, as ____________________________ goes about her day-to-day life, I pray that You‟ll reveal to her gifts that she will feel comfortable going out and being a catcher of men. Luke 5:10

How about you? Have you ever stretched while serving?

  1. Yes! I’m leading a study, too, for the very first time. I’m the youngest in the room, and I just felt like I was going to be totally awful… but God’s growing me though this discomfort and showing me that, yeah, I might be inexperienced, but He doesn’t need me to be perfect or experienced to speak through me- I just have to be willing.

  2. So wonderful that meditating on that verse has changed your life. I was meditating on the Scripture from Isaiah 12 ‘With joy I will draw water from Your wells of Salvation’ and wondering why it was wells plural. Not sure if this is a correct answer for the Scripture but the picture that appeared in my mind was that as we dig deep into God’s Word, and different areas we dig wells that deepen as we study God’s Word and more revelation seeps into them and we can give out from it. I’m certainly finding that in my 31 Day Communion Study on my blog. Friend from Grace and Truth.
