This post is a tough one because there are two things I felt moved to write about and I have had a hard time deciding on which one to go with.
So I choose to combine them together!
All a round the world yesterday people put on the colour green clothing in support of World Cerebral Palsy Day. (I just never got around to pressing the Publish button which is why this post is a day late) This is a topic dear to our hearts and you can find out why we where green by reading Our Story! Cerebral Palsy does not affect one gender, race or demographic.
It does not just affect the person who has cerebral palsy but the whole family unit. A while ago I saw this saying on a facebook feed and it hit home. I had no idea how strong I was until Cerebral Palsy personally touched my life.
In my teens and early twenties make up was something I wore once in a while. Most often it expired before ever being used up.
Than it became my war paint.
I used it to make myself focus on myself. (Those 5 minutes a day to remind myself to take care of myself)
Than I started to use it to hide my exhaustion. It’s not to often I leave the house without make up.
Not to long ago my hair style was long and often pulled back into a pony tail or bun. (Which my mom hated) The only time I styled it was for special occasions.
Now it’s cut in a style that I can leave it, (for those overwhelming days that making it to a mirror isn’t possible) or style it into a posh style.
Often I do not leave the house without being “put” together.
Only a few people see me with out all the stuff; that’s my family, closest friends, and the Emergency Room Personal. (The ER staff often see’s me usual in mixed matched clothing, wearing a hat, no make up and often freshly showered due to throw up. I think you get the picture)
I am Brave and beautiful is a beauty movement sweeping the globe and the blogging world.
Collie Caillat started the movement with the release of her new song and movie video Try. Than Megan from Brassy Apple and Cobi from Peacefrom6peices wanted to push this movement further on by encouraging women from all over the world to take off their make up and I joined!!
Colbie’s song says, ““Take your make up off. Let your hair down… Look into the mirror at yourself, Do you like you? Cause I like you… “
Megan and Cobi with the help of many ladies and Robbins Creative made their own video inspired by the song TRY.
God has really been speaking to my heart on that I am wonderfully made in his image and that I need to know that well. (Psalm 139:13-14) Today I join over 100 ladies who have taken off their make up in I am Brave and Beautiful movement. This is the Mommy my daughter see’s everyday. The one who comforts her, the one who makes her do her physical therapy, her teacher, her play mate and most of the person who loves her for who she is.
Now are you going to join the movement?
